The BIG Reveal!!!

Aug 31, 2012

As some of you may know, this month I participated in being a Blog Angel!
This was super fun and wouldn't have been possible without the hostesses, Rosie and Katlyn!
If you are sitting here and wondering what the heck a Blog Angel is, well, let me explain...
Being a Blog Angel means that you are secretly assigned to another blogger. For the whole month, you help out your blogger by encouraging them, leaving comments, mailing them packages, etc. But, the trick is, is that you have to do it secretly. Sometimes it gets pretty difficult! Also, somebody else is assigned to you. This means that I had my own Blog Angel looking out for me! <3

And now *announcer's voice*... I present to you the sweet blogger I have been an Angel for....
In the Old Road
Shasta from In the Old Road!
Shasta is a fantastic blogger who has the cutest kitchen, two sweet boys, and co-hosts a fun linky party!
In The Old Road
This past month I have sent her some of my blog designs and a handmade package in the mail!

I've also commented on a few of her posts and linked up to her linky party! (I always love a good party)

Don't you just love this idea? Well, Rosie is hosting another Blog Angels in October!
Signups start on September 15th!

7 Questions

Aug 29, 2012

7 questions time! I tried adding a funny photo but for some reason Blogger isn't letting me :( So we'll just go on with the questions!

1. Hamburger or Hotdog? (veggie versions count)
Hamburger most definitely.

2. If you had to live on any other planet in our solar system, besides Earth, which would you choose?

Probably Mars. The moon is my first choice but since that's not a planet, let's go with Mars. ;)

3. Share a photo of an outfit that represents your personal style, please. (doesn't have to be of you)

This is something I would wear for Fall...

via
Scarf, earrings, jeans, long sleeves, and boots.
While I love this look I also love pretty much everything I found on Pinterest! I couldn't find a photo to represent my style that I normally wear (you can only wear long sleeves and jeans for a few months here) but  ever since I've been part of the bloggy world I've been inspired to venture out with my outfits.

4. Would you rather get ready for the day or get ready for bed?

I would rather get ready for bed - I love jumping in to bed with my PJ's, especially in the winter. If it's Summer it's just too hot to be in bed.

5. You have to choose between never having eyelashes or never having eyebrows, which would you choose?

Never having eyelashes - I would probably wear fakes.

6. What do you want to be when you grow up?

I LOVE this question. I wanna be a graphic designer when I'm all grown up ;)

7. Do you set your clocks right on time, or a few minutes ahead or behind?

Well, the car clock used to be set to 5 minutes ahead, but the minutes are a little fast so now its up to 17 minutes ahead! But I mainly use my phone to check the time.

Thanks for the awesome questions, Gentri! xo. Kate

Tie-it-in-a-bow Headband

Aug 25, 2012

I just love this headband. I needed something red in my wardrobe and this is perfect. It can have a casual look or an elegant look to it... and It only took two minutes to make! Seriously guys, this is so easy.

Supplies:
Trim/ribbon/strip of fabric
Hot glue gun

So this is how you make it - cut your trim long enough to fit around your head and tie it in a big bow at your neck. Hot glue the ends so they don't fray (and then continue to burn your fingers like I did). DONE! Didn't I tell you? SO easy!

You can also double this as a skinny belt. Wouldn't it look adorable with a cream colored shirt?

Fitting in

Aug 23, 2012

Ever since I passed 6th grade, I've been trying to fit in.
But what's the point?
Why am I trying to be like everyone else if that isn't who I am?

"Why fit in if you were born to stand out?"
-Dr. Seuss

What a great lesson. <3 Thanks Dr. Seuss! xo. Kate

Circus.

Aug 20, 2012

Last month I got to go to the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus! It was such a fantastic show and I had a great time. I squealed half the time - everything was so amazing and dangerous!

First they had a pre-show, which is the first two photos of the post. There were clowns and mini-shows, and they gave away free temporary tattoos and clown noses.
And when the show began...
There were guys riding horses while standing. One guy flipped underneath the horse and climbed around the other side and got back on, all while the horse is galloping in a circle. They did several tricks that had me sitting on the edge of my seat! Ah scary!

The lions and tigers in a cage (thankfully)... They were actually kind of cute from a distance ;)

These are two girls with clips attached to their hair, which was braided and in a huge tight loop on their head.

They got up to 8 guys with motorcycles all going at once in the ball:
You can also check out what freaked me out most!
It was a fantastic show. I would go again if I could! I had a fabulous time and hopefully they'll be coming back next year. xo. Kate

Bullseye Ring

This is such a FUN ring to make! It took me only a few minutes and the ring makes me happy when I wear it. Here's how to make your own....

Supplies:
felt scraps
sequin + bead
needle + thread
elastic scrap
fabric scissors

STEP 1: Cut your piece of elastic to fit your finger, with an extra inch for sewing.

STEP 2: Cut out circles in all different sizes and layer them together.

STEP 3: Thread through the felt circles, the sequin, the bead, and all the way back.

STEP 4: Thread the ends of both threads through the elastic and tie it off.
STEP 5: Stitch the ends of the elastic together to make the ring form. Measure your finger as you do this.

 Done!
Have fun with this and get creative! Wouldn't it be so cool to wear the Target logo on your finger? ;)

Dancing In the Rain

"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain."

This quote means so much to me.
I realized that I am waiting for the storm to pass. I'm going to change that.
I'm determined not to hide in the storm's shadows, but to learn to dance in the rain. xo. Kate
