Pom Pom Party Series Part 3 - Pom Pom Earrings

Feb 6, 2012

And now for the third part of the Pom Pom Party Series!!!
Pom Pom Earrings!
I know, I know - I took FOREVER to get this post up. Sorry about that.

Ok, now lets get on to the tutorial. You will need:

Two pom poms of the same size + color (unless you want to go a little crazy with mis-matching earrings)
needle + thread
earring hooks

Start by threading your pom pom. Once you come through, go back and make a loop

Now pull the thread from the other side of the pom pom and pull the loop in.
It will be hidden in the center of your pom pom, out of site.

Ok, since it's near Valentine's Day and all, I felt I HAD to take a picture of the shape the thread had made
and share it with you. Totally unnecessary, but whatever.
Cut the thread that's left, long enough to tie a knot with it.

Now slip one strand of the thread through the loop on the bottom of the earring hook...
...And knot! Trim off the excess thread and your DONE!

Now go and make a ton of them, like I did!!!

If you missed the previous parts of the series, here they are:

 inspire. create.

Valentine Cookie Photo Shoot + Photography Tips

Feb 5, 2012

The other day I had fun listening to 80's music and decorating Valentine heart-shaped cookies!

I had some fun doing my first cookie-shoot (I guess you could call it).
I wanted to share how I did my photos, and also how I decorated these yummy cookies!
I'm pretty sure I have a craft disorder. Every time i'm given something (like a cookie for example!),
I always have to make it as perfect and creative as I can. I always end up taking much longer than I intend, placing little heart sprinkles on the edge of my cookie. Looks adorable. Takes forever.
Now, this cookie I 'designed' for when I feel less-sugary (if that's possible). Since I really wasn't getting fancy with these cookies, I made some sloppy-ish stripes with a butter knife. It is possible.

End-Of-Week Update

Feb 4, 2012

This week really has just flown by. I finally did a bit of cleaning, sat and tried to be inspired with a pile of bottle caps, and actually completed a Valentine's project! I'm always feeling pressured around holidays to be creative. I'm constantly trying to think of a valentine idea. I promise I'll share one soon!

Valentine Heart Decor

Feb 1, 2012

This is a simple, cute valentine project that only takes about an hour to make!!!

Supplies:
Cardboard
Tissue Paper or Streamers in pink or red
Ribbon
Glue
Pencil
Scissors
Tape

Start by cutting out some fun heart shapes from cardboard:

I didn't have any pink/red tissue paper, so I used some valentine-colored party streamers. Cut some square-ish shapes. I also used some thinner bits to fill in the heart.
